We had a nice 8-hour sleep last night and were ready for today’s adventures. After a scrumptious breakfast spread, we set off to explore the sacred sites of Kathmandu valley.
Our Travel Family
This journey is as much about the people beside us as it is about the mountains and temples.
Eswara, my husband and lifelong partner in adventure, has been dreaming of this pilgrimage for years. I follow his dreams, and together we embrace every challenge and every breathtaking moment.
Our close friends—Shantha, Sree, Madhavi, Krishna Mohan, Ram, and Shantha Aunty—joined us to make this journey more joyful, heartwarming, and memorable. Each of them brought laughter, support, and companionship that made even the toughest days feel lighter.
With this incredible group, our journey to Mount Kailash is not just a pilgrimage—it’s a shared adventure of faith, friendship, and unforgettable memories.
Our first stop was Sesh Narayana Temple, where we were supposed to meditate under the Seshnag rock. The divine atmosphere was so calming and set the tone for the day.
Next, we visited Dakshina Kali Temple, a powerful Shakti Peetham, before heading up the hill to seek the blessings of Dakshina Kali Ma. The energy and devotion in the temple were deeply moving.
Finally, we took the cable car ride to Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple on Chandragiri Hills.
👶 A special moment for me was taking videos of the cable car ride to share with my grandson Leo, who is 19 months old. He calls cable cars “ke-ka car” 🥰.

We thoroughly enjoyed the magical scenery—the weather dropped suddenly, clouds drifted past us, and the temple appeared almost floating in the mist. We had a simple lunch near the temple, and our guide Ram was patient and wonderful throughout. Needless to say, we took hundreds of photos!
By evening, we received our duffle bags, jackets, ponchos, and caps from our travel agent—final gear for our Kailash Yatra. We had an early dinner and went to bed, as we needed to wake up by 5 AM for Pashupatinath Temple the next day.
🌿 Travel Note: Sesh Narayana Temple

A sacred Vishnu shrine in Kathmandu, known for the rock formation believed to represent the cosmic serpent Seshnag. Pilgrims meditate here for peace and divine blessings.
🌺 Travel Note: Dakshina Kali Temple
One of Nepal’s most important Shakti Peethas, where Goddess Kali is worshipped in her fierce form. The temple is especially powerful for devotees seeking strength and transformation.

🕉 Travel Note: Chandragiri Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple
Perched at 8,000 feet, this temple is associated with Lord Shiva granting boons to King Prithvi Narayan Shah. The cable car ride itself is breathtaking, offering panoramic Himalayan views.

Reflection of the Day:
As evening approached, we returned to our hotel with hearts full of gratitude. Being in the company of friends, visiting these sacred temples, and feeling the quiet strength of both Vishnu and Shiva blessed our day in more ways than one.
This yatra is slowly teaching me that the journey itself is as sacred as the destination. Each pause, each darshan, each shared smile is a step closer to Kailash in spirit.
Nature has a way of reminding us of the vastness of creation, while temples remind us of the vastness within. Today was a balance of both—standing in misty hills and bowing in front of deities, I felt grounded yet uplifted.
Tomorrow will be another new beginning, another chance to walk deeper into faith and togetherness.
